Libya’s Rebel Army Chief killed

Moussa Ibrahim, Libya's government spokesman told reporters on July 29 that Al Qaeda is behind the death of the rebel military chief Abdel-Fattah Younis because he was rejecting political settlements. Government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said,"And they believed that Mr. Abdel Fattah Younis with others were trying to reach some agreements with the west and possibly with the Libyan government away from Al Qaeda since Al Qaeda is so rejected world wide and can't be included in a political settlement, Al Qaeda then wanted to send a clear message to everyone trying to exclude them by killing the commander, the highest military commander among the rebels and no one could save him, not his tribe, not the members of the transitional council of Benghazi" Libya's rebels said their slain military commander was killed by allied militia fighters who went to collect him back from the frontline for questioning. The assassination of Mr.Younis, a senior figure has left a confusion among rebels and their Western backers who are in quest of overthrowing leader Muammar Gaddafi. Moussa Ibrahim added,"He comes from powerful tribe, Al Obeidat tribe, and his killing in this way and the burning of his body, this will cause bitterness and hatred and will make any level of trust established so far destroyed between the different factions of the transitional council of Benghazi, we believe that it will be very hard to gather volunteers, Abdel Fattah was a major factor in gathering volunteers from the tribes," "And it's a nice slap to the face of the British, the council that they recognized could not protect its own commander of the army, this is the answer Mr. Hague was asking for, this is the answer Mr. Cameron was asking for, he put his trust in the council and the following day the commander chief of the army was killed by members of the same council," "We killed the number is 190 between yesterday and the day before yesterday, in two days a hundred and ninty...so Sarkozy and NATO keep causing the death of many Libyan by convincing them they can win this war while in fact they can not." While details of Mr. Younis's death remains uncertain, rebel minister Ali Tarhouni has set up a committee to provide information on the attack. Rebel Minister Ali Tarhouni said, "I don't know about it myself - how the general was asked, who asked him, who imprisoned him. All these details - this is what the committee will investigate. The committee have a very short timeline to give us answers to all these questions," "It was only at 1:30 or 2:00 that finally we found the bodies of the general and his colleagues. He was partially burnt. The crime took place not in Brega, it took place in the suburbof Benghazi," Mr. Younis's relatives and those leading Friday prayers in Benghazi called on Libyans to unite in avenging the slain General's death.
